Housing Stability and Affordability for Families
Every family deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. Rising housing costs, rental pressures, and the increasing cost of living are creating challenges for residents across York South–Weston.
I will work to:
• Support and accelerate the creation of affordable and rental housing through responsible planning, partnerships, and city-owned housing opportunities
• Advocate for policies that protect tenants from instability and support long-term housing security
• Encourage responsible development that respects existing neighbourhoods while creating more housing options
• Support better maintenance, accountability, and standards for aging rental buildings and Toronto Community Housing properties
• Ensure new development is matched with the infrastructure and services needed to support current and future residents
Growth must benefit the people who live here today while creating opportunities for future generations.
Jobs, Small Business, and Local Economic Opportunity
Small businesses are the backbone of York South–Weston. Local entrepreneurs create jobs, strengthen neighbourhoods, and bring life to our main streets, but many face unnecessary barriers when dealing with city processes.
I will work to:
• Advocate for simpler and more efficient city permits, licensing, and approval processes
• Improve guidance and support for new and small business owners navigating city systems
• Support local businesses along Weston Road, Jane Street, and surrounding commercial corridors
• Encourage investment that creates local employment opportunities
• Strengthen pathways to employment through partnerships with employers, trades, and community organizations
• Support balanced commercial development that reflects the needs of residents and strengthens local main streets
A stronger local economy creates more opportunities for families and builds stronger neighbourhoods.
Youth Opportunity, Community Safety, and Stronger Support Systems
Safer communities are built through opportunity, prevention, and support. Young people need access to positive pathways that help them succeed.
I will work with schools, employers, trades, community organizations, and safety partners to:
• Expand youth employment opportunities, apprenticeships, and skills training
• Support mentorship, recreation, and community programs
• Connect youth with positive opportunities before challenges become crises
• Strengthen partnerships focused on violence prevention and neighbourhood safety
• Support individuals rebuilding their lives after involvement with the justice system by connecting them with employment, training, and community support
Community safety requires both effective response and long-term investment in people.
Modern, Responsive, and Accountable City Services
City Hall should work for residents, not create unnecessary barriers. Residents deserve timely responses, clear communication, and reliable services.
I will advocate for:
• Faster response times for city service requests
• Better tracking and accountability for repairs and resident concerns
• More transparent service delivery
• Smarter use of technology to reduce delays and bureaucracy
• Better coordination between city departments
• Responsible use of taxpayer dollars to deliver better results
Government should focus on solving problems, improving services, and earning residents' trust.
Infrastructure and Transit Improvements
Access to reliable transit and well-maintained roads is essential for our growing community. We need infrastructure that connects us safely and efficiently.
My focus will be:
• Improving local bus service reliability and frequency
• Advocating for safer street designs to protect pedestrians and cyclists
• Ensuring road repairs and infrastructure projects are completed on schedule
• Connecting residents with upcoming regional transit expansions
Environmental Stewardship and Green Spaces
Protecting our natural environment and enhancing our parks makes our community more livable. We must invest in sustainable solutions for a greener future.
I will advocate for:
• Increased investment in local park maintenance and amenities
• Expanding tree canopy coverage in urban areas
• Supporting community-led greening and urban agriculture initiatives
• Implementing climate-resilient local infrastructure
Healthcare and Seniors Support
Our seniors built this community, and they deserve the support to live with dignity and safety. Access to care must be a priority for everyone in Ward 5.
I will work to:
• Enhance community-based support services for seniors
• Advocate for better integration of local health services
• Support the expansion of active living and social programs for all ages
